When it comes to doing chores around the house, what are the most energy and time efficient methods you can be using? Portland General Electric wants to answer those questions for its consumers, and that's the message behind its new web series, "Switch Labs".
The first energy myth the company set out to tackle was that washing dishes by hand is more efficient than using a dishwasher. In testing the different methods, PGE found that's not always the case. In terms of solely energy consumption, PGE says that a new, energy-efficient dishwasher is just as energy efficient as the best hand-washing method.
If you don't have an energy-efficient washer, it's best to stick with hand washing. For more information about the different types of hand washing and which can save you the most money, check out PGE's website. View the video at KATU.com.
